Lake Toho Bass

April Lake Toho Fishing Report

Finally its April, one of my favorite months to fish Lake Toho. The bass are aggressively feeding up after spawning in the winter and the weathers consistent. Which makes the bite very consistent also. And that is what’s going on right now on all of the offshore grass patches on the lake. We’re consistently catching good fish! We’re averaging around 20-30 fish on a 4-5 hour trip. There’s so much offshore grass for these bass to get on right now, it’s awesome, and it pretty much all has fish on it. Our guides are scattered all over the lake fishing […]

The best it’s ever been? December Lake Toho Fishing Report

Now I’ve had some amazing days bass fishing lake Toho catching both big numbers and big bass. But never have I seen this lake produce both of these so consistently. I mean even after cold fronts (which usually slow down the fishing) the fishing remains unchanged and even has gotten better! 30 fish days with a 7 pounder have become the average with 40-70 fish days and multiple fish over 7 pounds becoming very common! There’s only one word for it, stupid. It really is stupid how good the fishing is right now on Lake Toho. And it’s a testament […]

October Lake Toho fishing report

The fall bite has started and the bass are biting everywhere! The recent cold fronts we’ve had have really kicked the fish into overdrive and they’ve started gorging themselves for the winter. Lake Toho is loaded with hydrilla and just about every patch of it holds good fish. So much so that I’m having trouble deciding where to start each day, because it doesn’t seem to matter where you go, as long as you’re around good hydrilla you’re going to catch good fish. The bite has been so good in some of these spots that I’ve had quite a few days […]

Lake Toho September fishing report

The bass fishing on Lake Toho has been more consistently good than I have ever seen it! And it’s because of one thing, the FWC. I have to say the FWC has done a great job of managing these lakes and listening to us these last couple of years and we are all able to pick the fruits of their labor now. With the reduction of spraying and killing the hydrilla it has allowed for massive populations of fish to concentrate in it. Which in turn has lead to the consistent fishing. They’re spraying it the way they should be […]

Lake Toho June fishing report

Welcome back everyone! Hope you all are doing well. Thankfully most places have opened back up here or are set to open back up soon here in Florida. I’m just happy we were all able to fish throughout the whole thing. But anyway we are back to guiding here at AJ’s Bass Guides and if you’ve been following any of our social media then you know what kind of fish the lake has been producing here lately. Some real monsters. We’ve been getting trophy size fish almost everyday! I’m not kidding check out our Instagram @orlandobass1 or Facebook @freelancerbass. It’s […]

The 7 best Florida bass lures

Here we go, the 7 best Florida bass lures. This was a tough one to come up with because there are so many good lures out there but the 7 that I’ve chosen are consistently better producers of giant Florida bass than any other lures that I’ve found. This selection of bass fishing lures will cover just about anything that you’ll come across in Florida. Whether or not an individual lure on the list will work for you depends upon exactly what kind of body of water your fishing and what kind of cover it has to offer the bass. […]

How to fish Lake Toho during the winter time (February Lake Toho fishing report)

It’s my favorite time of year for bass fishing here on Lake Toho in Orlando Florida. The weathers nice but more importantly the bass are biting and they’re biting allllll day. That’s right, it doesn’t really seem to matter what time you go out you’re gonna catch them. I’ve been averaging 20 to 40 fish a day on my guide trips! Some days more than that. Even after cold fronts. It’s unbelievable. I’ve been slacking on writing fishing reports simply because I’ve been fishing everyday trying to experience every last minute of this! But I’m going to make up for […]

How to catch bass in Florida

How to catch bass in Florida

Ahh good old Florida. It’s known as the fishing capital of the world and for good reason. Florida has some of the most spectacular fishing that you’ll ever experience from saltwater to trophy largemouth bass. One of the reasons that the fishing is unlike anywhere else here is simply because Florida is literally unlike anywhere else.  While for the most part the rest of the country fishes very similar for bass, Florida’s unique shallow grassy lakes and ponds can be a challenge for those who have never fished here. It is so unique that even watching videos or reading articles […]

September Lake Toho Fishing Report

Ahhh the good old consistency of Florida summer bass fishing. For the most part not much has changed from last months fishing report to this months. Except for one key factor. The big fish bite. For whatever reason the big fish bite has picked up from last month and I’m not complaining. It’s been fun! While the average total amount of bass we’ve been catching remains the same, the amount of fish 7 pounds and up has increased and become much more consistent. Now getting them to the boat has been a different story…  unfortunately we’ve had a lot of […]

August Lake Toho fishing report

Because the FWC has halted the use of chemicals to kill off unwanted grass the lake as a whole is in a much better state than it has been in a long time. Healthy grass can be seen all over the lake and even healthier bass are being caught. As long as the FWC can keep the invasive hydrilla from over taking the lake with their hydrilla harvesters the lake should be producing record numbers of bass in the coming years! Rain, rain, and more rain has pretty much described the weather we’ve had. But luckily the rain has been […]
