Lake Toho Fall Fishing Report

As the cool weather of fall settles over Lake Toho, the bait throughout the lake have woken up. Mainly the shad, which have begun to spawn in different areas of the lake. This has caused a feeding frenzy of bass schooling up in large numbers. We’re averaging catching 20-30 bass on just our 4 hour trips and as always, when bass are feeding heavily on shad, the topwater bite is on also. The main area’s that this has been going on are shell beds and solid hydrilla and kissimmee grass lines. The shad like to spawn on hard edges and […]

December Lake Toho Fishing Report

The bass fishing on Toho remains solid as we move closer to the peak winter time spawn in January, February, and March. Fish continue to constantly chase shad and shiners around feeding up for the upcoming months where they will be at their biggest. They’re already getting fat, really fat, and not because they’re filling up with eggs but because they’re filling up with so much bait! They’re all beginning to weigh more and more. We continue to be averaging catching 20- 30 on our 4 hour trips, and on our longer trips some days well over 40 bass on […]

November Lake Toho fishing report

It’s finally time, the fall feeding bonanza has swung into full effect! And it’s far better than I would’ve expected. The last few cold fronts we’ve had have turned on a feeding frenzy! So much so that on our shiner trips we’ve had to recommend extra bait because we’ve been running out early. And for artificials, the topwater bite has been the best it has been all year. Since the FWC (Florida Wildlife Commission) has been leaving much greater amounts of hydrilla in the lake we’ve seen a fish population explosion over the last year. But no other time has […]

The best it’s ever been? December Lake Toho Fishing Report

Now I’ve had some amazing days bass fishing lake Toho catching both big numbers and big bass. But never have I seen this lake produce both of these so consistently. I mean even after cold fronts (which usually slow down the fishing) the fishing remains unchanged and even has gotten better! 30 fish days with a 7 pounder have become the average with 40-70 fish days and multiple fish over 7 pounds becoming very common! There’s only one word for it, stupid. It really is stupid how good the fishing is right now on Lake Toho. And it’s a testament […]

October Lake Toho fishing report

The fall bite has started and the bass are biting everywhere! The recent cold fronts we’ve had have really kicked the fish into overdrive and they’ve started gorging themselves for the winter. Lake Toho is loaded with hydrilla and just about every patch of it holds good fish. So much so that I’m having trouble deciding where to start each day, because it doesn’t seem to matter where you go, as long as you’re around good hydrilla you’re going to catch good fish. The bite has been so good in some of these spots that I’ve had quite a few days […]

Lake Toho November Fishing Report

This November here on Orlando Florida’s Lake Toho it’s been all about the numbers, numbers, numbers. We’re averaging around 20 bass per day with some day’s up over 30 on our fishing guide trips! The action has been non-stop throughout the morning. We are on large groups of fish that are feeding heavily on bait fish. These are all healthy fish in the 2-3 pound range too! We are still getting plenty of fish up over 7 pounds along with these shear numbers of bass. We’re not only getting double ups, we’re getting some triple ups right now! Catching up […]

October Lake Toho Fishing Report

It’s the Fall and we’re in a transition period here in Orlando Florida. The day’s are getting cooler and as always at this time of year the FWC (Florida Wildlife Commision) has begun to spray and kill off the hydrilla in Lake Toho. Now you may be wondering why would they do this? Well it’s not without good reason. Hydrilla in Lake Toho during the summer here in Florida grows extremely fast. Up to 2 inches a day in some cases. While it is great for the fishing it tends to overrun portions of the lake, like bass spawning flats […]

Lake Toho September Fishing Report

The Summer fishing on Lake Toho this year has possibly been the best ever! With more numbers of fish and more big fish being caught than what seems like ever before. This is due to the lower than average water temperatures that we’ve been experiencing. Especially compared to last year where water temperatures were hitting the mid 90’s daily. Which made the fishing tough. Luckily this year was a cooler one and the water temp has stayed in the 80’s. And these Florida fish love it. Just a month ago we were averaging catching around 20-30 bass on our Lake […]

5 Best baits for fishing Florida right now

This is one of my favorite times for fishing Florida. The day’s are becoming cooler and the fish are fatter than ever! While some fish have begun to spawn in their hidey holes. The majority of the bass are still on pre-spawn grass edges gorging themselves to get ready for the winter and their time to spawn. In the last article I went over how to find these pre-spawn areas. You can find that article here. In this article we’re going to go over how to catch these fish! And if you like this article you should check out my […]
